I’ve been searching for a plug (US/North America) that can be flashed with ESPHome, is capable of acting as a Bluetooth Proxy and specifically is capable of handling ACTIVE BT connections. Obviously, a lot of plugs use ESP8266s (been very happy with the SONOFF S31s I’ve flashed with ESPHome) and only a handful use ESP32s. Additionally, I’ve had issues with some ESP32 devices not working with the BT Proxy component (specifically Shelly Gen 3s). But I haven’t found an example of one where someone has specifically done what I need.
The best option I’ve found thus far is the Athom ‘ESP32-C3 US Plug For ESPHome’, but I haven’t found any examples of folks using it with BT Proxy (and even more basic, how difficult it is to take apart and flash serially, which is recommended for flashing BT Proxy). Can anyone confirm how easy it is to disassemble and flash serially and even better, has anyone used it with BT Proxy?
Also, are there any other US/North America plugs that people have successfully used with ESPHome and the BT Proxy component?
