ESPHome update automation

Hi,

I really like the “update all” button at ESPHome as it makes updating devices over the air a breeze with just one click. Just curious if it is possible to automate this function?

Yeah, one click can be taxing when you are a natural couch potato :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m not sure that it would be a good idea either. Occasionally a “breaking change” can occur in new version which would result in (some) of your modules being corrupted/some sensors not working anymore after automatic update.

Updates should always be intended and monitored (at least from my point of view).

I did not mean update every “2 hours” but more like every “6 months” but your point about aggressive updating is fair :love_you_gesture:

True, you’re right about that. I remember when config of MCP23017 was changed - compiling didn’t go through unless i changed config according to new demands.

But still, i rather do updates myself. After all, something can go wrong during update uploading, resulting in non-responsive module (it happened to me a couple of times). Being there - i can solve it, doing it automatic while me being miles away on work (or on holidays)… not so much…

I’m also interested in this. I’m running both HA and ESPHome from TrueNAS if that matters.
