PROBLEM (Or is there no such thing and only solutions )
In ESPHome we have the option to “Update All” devices . Sometimes you would just like to update a few of them and not all of them . In order to do this you have to update each one individually one at a time and this can be time consuming. There has to be a better way.
There could be many reasons why you would like to just update a few and not all of them;
-
Just not wanting to update some devices for whatever reason you have.Could be a ESPHome update that will break a device but the other 49 are good with the new ESPHome update. So many reasons.
-
When updating all it crashed and you only got 10 left to do out of the 50 devices and you just don’t want to update all again or click individual update for each remaining 10 devices
-
Change the code for 10 of your 50 devices and you just need to update the 10 devices not all 50 devices.
Everyone would have a reason why.
SOLUTION
It would be really nice to have a “Update Selected” button next to the “Update All” button that just updates the ESPHome devices you have selected via a update tick box. It would then just run through the update of the ones you have selected and not all of them.
The update selected button can be whatever, but you get the idea of what function is being preposed to achieve the goal. Example the “Update Selected” button could be a drop down list that when clicked it displays all your devices that have, a tick a box next to each one. Once you selected the devices to be updated you just click update. Done.
Hope this make sense and is considered.
Thanks to all the developers that have made HA… it the best home automation in the world.
