Hey folks - know this isn’t the ESPresence forum, but I’m hoping enough other HA users are tinkering with presence that this group might have some insights.
TL;DR - sitting right next to a kitchen sensor and HA thinks I’m upstairs.
House background - my house is new construction with a mix of some open spaces (kitchen + living room) and separate rooms (bedrooms, garage, etc).
ESPresence background - I put espresence sensors in nearly every room. I set the max distance on all of them to 4M (to start).
Beacon - AppleWatch series 7 with the IRK pasted into the web UI of each presence sensor.
The major issue is how wildly inaccurate the readings are. For instance, I’m currently 1M from a kitchen sensor and at least 5M from a Garage sensor. The kitchen is set to a minimum of 5M and the garage is set to a minimum of 2M. Home Assistant think’s I’m either in my garage or in my bedroom above me. I can stand right next to the kitchen sensor and it still thinks I’m somewhere else.
I’ve been building some automations, but they aren’t reliable yet since my setup constantly thinks I’m somewhere else.
So, anyone have tips or tricks about the settings? Do I need to adjust absorption and if so, how? The documentation is unclear. Do I need to fiddle with RSSI settings?
I’d be grateful for any tips, tricks, or help this group has t offer.
