Eurotronics valves going nuts on hass reboot

Hi everyone,

Environment: I have a aeotec z-stick and 3 radiator valves Eurotronic spirit, hassio installed on docker running on an old laptop, everything (almost) runs smoothly.

Issue: when I restart hass to apply config (hassio ha restart), sometimes, not everytime, my valves go crazy and open all the way. But they still display “Off” both on the display and on zwave. I can recover them by cycling through heat and off again and set the temperature to a different one. But that’s not ideal because I don’t notice it all the time, especially when I’m at work like today for example.

Here is what happens in the climate graph, the temperature is rising even though the valve is not in “heat” mode: https://pasteboard.co/I0380Th.png

Is it a known issue ? Is there a way to fix this ? Because that is quite annoying and can be expensive …

Hi
Did you find a way to tame your thermostats?

I did not notice what you’re seeing (yet) but what I do see is that the thermostats don’t close the valve after reaching their setpoint. I see rooms overheat for hours and the valve showing 80 or 100% . I recently installed 6 of the spirits and I am now seeing these severe issues with the thermostats logic.

Maybe both issues are related and the thermostats need a daily calibration or something. Both issues sound Like they are due to buggy valve control.

I’m still experimenting how to work around this. Im monitoring valve position more closely now and see whether manually controlling the valve helps.

There is a lot of problems in openzwave side. Also HA uses very old branch of openzwave. Also there is a lot fixes to support Eurotronics TRV’s

Check out:

Also i have requested pull up in git to make same changes… I think all problems are related to that, because I find out that sometimes TRV just jumps in boost mode instead of heating.
