anyone having experience using Eve Motion sensors with the Home Assistant Matter integration and Thread.
The pairing seems to work eventhough it threw an error at the end but the device shows in the integration and the occupancy is displayed correctly. The problem that I have is that the illuminance value is not what I would expect. It stays at 1.0lx and rarley changes only rising a bit to maybe 2.0lx when directly shining with a light on the sensor opening.
Is this an issue with the Matter integration or am I doing something wrong?
Not yet. I read somewhere on the internet that it might be a firmware issue that is already solved by an update but I didn’t try that because I don’t own a iOS device to run the Eve App.
This weekend I will probably be able to update my sensor with the help of a friends iOS device.
I will report here if this fixes the illuminance issues in Home Assistant.
It took me a little longer than I expected to finally get my hands on an iOS device. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to update the Eve Motion because apperantly you need an HomePod too if you want to do a Firmware Update.
@ZigZaggh
There is some good news. Since Home Assistant 2024.8 you can update the Eve devices over Matter directly from Home Assistant. The bad part is it doesn’t fix my problem with the Eve Motion.
Edit:
I have to correct myself. After removing the updated device from HA, reseting the device and re-adding to HA the illuminance sensor is finally working!
