Every Other Pixel On?

I have a ring of WS2811 LED’s which is a bit bright for what I need it for, even on it’s lowest setting.

Is it possible to turn just every other led pixel on and leave the rest off. I imagine it will be some lambda magic but I have no idea where to begin with that!
