I got an email from the Insteon Web developers today. They reported to me that I was requesting status too often. This appears to be something new as I have been using HA with Insteon components for a few months without the Insteon folks contacting me. Please let me know what I can do to help out. The following is the text of the email I got from Insteon.
Hi Terry,
We are seeing an extremely high level of commands originating from your Api key. It looks like you are calling “get_status” calls at an extremely high frequency which is flagging your account for abuse which will result in your api key being disabled. Just wanted to reach out to you to see if you are aware of this issue and if you need help in consuming the api properly.
Please review the commands usage guidelines link below and take the necessary steps to reduce the rate of your applications requests to prevent your api key from being disabled. http://docs.insteon.apiary.io/#reference/commands
I’m experiencing a similar issue, I’m using the sensor.rest component to hit an API and I’m also being blocked for excessive requests. I can’t see any way to change the polling interval of this component of HA? I only need to update it every 15 mins or so but it’s being hit much more frequently than that (the API allows 300 requests per day).
Hey to all who like me have been investing in the Insteon product for a while and are now at at a standstill. What is going on with development efforts with the hub interface to HA? or for that matter any insteon development. I have been with this product for a while and every time I migrate to another front end it seems to have issues and eventually it folds. I am currently waffling between a couple of products and looking for a solution. I really like the HA product and what it offers. I too got the nasty gram from the Insteon Development team about excessive request, how can I address this? Is there a fix required? just need some direction here guys.
