Isn’t that just simply the same as excluding the entity entirely from the area in the first place? I want to have the entities organised by area still and I want to be able to use them still, I’m just look for some sort of way to flag an entity so that it’s not affected by its respective area switch.
I want to have the ability to flag multiple entities in multiple areas like this.
That’s not an “area” switch it’s an entities card header toggle. It switches everything in the card. If you remove the Bathroom light from the card it won’t get switched. Or leave it in the card, disable showing the header toggle and use the light group to switch all in the group.
Perhaps I am misunderstand something then, because these entity cards have purely been created from areas that I have created and moved devices into, I haven’t done anything special/extra to create these entity cards.
For example, these are some of the areas I created as I was setting up new devices and assigning them to those areas:
Right now I’m still getting to grips with the many aspects of HA, starting to mess with lovelace isn’t up there.
The auto generated default overview is good enough when organising entities. If HA really wants to get into the mainstream, making this default autogenerated overview as user friendly as possible needs to be a priority.
I can see the point you are making. In my case: I have an area card that has a few lights, a garage door, some sensors and a camera. The problem I have is that when I click the global button it also opens/closes the garage door and this is not desirable. So if entities had some setting sucha as “exclude from area card global switch” it would make area cards a lot more flexble and robust.
