I’m running Zwave JS. I inherited a couple plug-in Jasco modules that I can’t get paired. I suspect that they weren’t excluded from the network that they were previously on. I’d like to try excluding them using “remove node” on the Zwave JS config screen, but I’m wary of accidentally removing a working node from my network. Is there a recommended way to do that?
Just dont run around ths house hitting light switches. Youll be fine. General exclude requires an action on the client to confirm the exclusion…
That also means you need to be smashing the paddles on the jasco when you engage the exclusion. Technically, one press up should do it but with the older ones, I always play a game called whatever, just hit em all… repeatedly… Usually works.
Thanks. I had an issue where I accidentally removed a node that I wasn’t interacting with, but it must’ve been PEBCAK (user error).
I mean, technically can it happen… Yes. Ive done it once in 8 years with over 70 nodes.
My wife turned on the lights in the bathroom exactly at the same time i was doing an exclusion… Otherwise it has not been a common occurrence.
Same thing has happened here before, I try to do network management like this when no one’s around.
The other alternative is to just factory reset the device. “Modern” devices will tell the controller a factory reset has been performed and the controller will remove it from the network.
I’d tried a factory reset first. Tried all of the methods I could find, but none seemed to work (even the hold-the-button-for-a-minute method).
Just got them to exclude and added to my network without incident.
