Does anyone have experience with the Lidl Matter (WiFi) smartplug. It is advertised that it can do energy monitoring. But does the energy monitoring work via the app or via Matter?
Hello,
I just recently bought a pair of these, as they were on black Friday discount. It was quite a struggle to get them paired with HA, since I do not have a “matter hub” or any such in-between device bridge. I assumed that I can pair them with the Lidl Home app, set the SSID and such, then I could add it to HA. Silly rabbit… there was a lot more to that. If anyone is interested I can write a more in depth essay about how I managed to add these plugs to HA.
Back to your question, it looks like it does support monitoring. At least there are some values there (currently plugged in the fridge).
I also bought the matter smart plugs from lidl. I really just connected one. It was so easy!
Add the Matter beta integration, add matter device, scan qr code and thats it.
Power measurement works. It has a little delay, but for simpel purposes it will be fine.
3 of 4 diagnostic sensors work for me, Power, Voltage and Current.
Energy however is not increasing, even after a few days usage.
Yes indeed. Same behavior here.
Maybe this can be solved with power calculate or a template
OK, I guess it was me that had experienced some unnecessary complications. I have HA running on a remote cloud server in docker and I connect to that network via a Wireguard tunnel. I had to install python-matter-server locally, enable IPv6 everywhere, find an Android phone, install companion app, enable Google services (yuk!), try to scan QR code and retry multiple times, otherwise the pairing would not work.
if you can share the steps, that should be nice :)!
