Explain Z-Wave Network Basics As If I Was A Child

Do mains repeaters relay EVERY message regardless of chip series or encryption type?

When is a network or specific device heal warranted if it’s not recommended?

Do legacy devices slow down the whole network, that specific route, or just that device?

Is there any diagnostic tools or software that can de-mystify Z-Wave or give insight to problem devices or signal?

These are a few of the main questions, feel free to add more questions. It would be nice to have useful information for everyone in one spot. :slightly_smiling_face:

let’s start here:

I strongly disagree. Living in a house full of Zwave, having a rock solid experience… :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you disagree with?

Also, that link didn’t address any of the questions in my post. I should’ve clarified, I have a good handle on the basics but there doesn’t seem to be good information about the more technical or diagnostic side, specifically the questions listed.

Disagree with the post @PeteRage made, and after my comment edited and deleted. So my answer is now pointing to a statement, that disappeared.

And I can’t help you too, as you are not clear enough formulating your question.

This is your title: Explain Z-Wave Network Basics As If I Was A Child

And then you state, you do know the basics and I do not provide deep enough info?

Make up your mind, I’m not wasting my time on this…

There are 4 specific questions in the post…? Yes, the title is a bit misleading but do you know the answers to those questions in an understandable format? I only asked in that manner because most times there’s no explaining, just ‘that’s how Z-Wave works’ or ‘have you searched the forums’.
