I’ve been working on my home assistant configuration for a week now slowly adding all the devices I’ve collected over the years. I am now up to the point were i want to add my air conditioner to HASS which happens to have a SkyFi controller. There is no component for home assistant at the moment but there is a plugin for homebridge.
Im not all that keen on homekit (just bought an Alexa and my wifi is on a different subnet to my HB install) and am wondering if it is possible to expose the functions and sensors that the HB SkiFi plugin has on hass? I havent gone down the path of looking to write the component myself as i am very time poor at the moment so this would be a good fudge for now.
If you have a homekit device that you want to control with hass you can do so with homekit automation. The concept is creating a dummy switch / input select in hass and expose it to homekit though homebridge. You can then automate homekit to switch on the homekit device based on the dummy switch.
Next question - can this be achieved without an iOS device? I’m currently only using homebridge because it has a plugin to connect to the ThinkEco SmartAC devices I received from ConEd. From the logs, the SmartAC devices are being recognized correctly. How can I automate homekit to respond to the dummy switch / input if I don’t have an iOS device?
