Hi guys,
I’d like to use an external mySQL / mariaDB in addition to the internal SQlite of my HASSio instance.
Target is to store long-term data, without having a critical (external) dependency for the recorder.
Any idea?

Yes, as I already have an available maria instance here.
I’d expect that, apart from DB-specific configurations, the basic mechanisms of having an external “long-term mirror-database” should be identical.
For long term data of this sort you should really be using a time series database like InfluxDB. VictoriaMetrics is another good option. There are posts about it on the forum.
