The only downside I see is that since it plugs into the wall, the motion and light sensors depend on an outlet that is either high up on the wall, or that has an unobstructed view.
What i really need is wireless power without batteries. That would be a winner LOL
I was less than impressed with the Aeon Labs unit I got Gen5 also. It’s big and ate was very tough on batteries. It finally quit working all together. So I trashed it.
I have several of the zooz variety of the Moniprice Z-Wave Plus units that you show. I’ve been pretty happy with them. They are marginally better on batteries than the Aeon Labs units were. Still not great. But they are a much smaller form factor.
I just hate having to go out and buy new batteries every couple of months. The plugin was a nice idea, but with the drawbacks I mentioned earlier. One other thing I think I saw somewhere was one of these integrated into a light for use over your front door. Or it may have been a camera. I don’t remember off hand.
Still looking for the best footprint / power for this type of device.
