That’s wild! Some kind of induced signal on the input when the current fluctuates when the doorbell button is pressed?
Both my mainstream /Channels/101 and substream /Channels/102 show the exact same resolution and bitrate in VLC under codec information. However they’re configured to be different in the EZVIZ studio desktop config (under advanced settings). Any idea why this is occurring?
Hello @seanblanchfield very nice project. Do you think I could reach similar on Ezviz ep3x doorbell? This device seems to be total mystery. Nowhere nothing about it. It is unable to enable rtsp via Android app or Ezviz studio (hacked config) ot Hikvision app.

Still no success with ep3x. No rtsp stream on any of template definable paths. Seems like there is rtsp disabled by default but no way how to enable it for LAN. Is there some way how to catch “ring” alarm and stream using “fake” proxy or something? I´m disapointed that in the EZVIZ addon is battery status, working mode any more but not such BASIC thing like RING alarm. Unbelievable…
@seanblanchfield Thought I’d update you, and this thread:
- Sadly, EZviz has done something to their firmware/hardware such that in every semi-current version of the DB1, DB1c, and (pro version, sorry don’t remember exactly at the moment)… it no longer makes my officially-approved mechanical chime ring.
- I went to the trouble of analyzing signals with an oscilloscope. Went around endlessly with tech support. Bought a brand new device. No joy.
- I gave up and sought a different solution.
Result:
- Reolink doorbell. Important notes and caveats:
- Can get wired or wireless. I went for wired. No more disconnect issues.
- Can get in vertical or horizontal (portrait/landscape
) aspect ratio. I think that’s the difference between the white and black versions! I went for vertical, much better for my situation. - Not surprising: the mount holes are a bit different than DB1
- This doesn’t directly ring a mechanical chime, but there’s a working workaround!
Your " Deep Dive into the EZVIZ DB1 Doorbell with Home Assistant" is a great write up. Here Started with the Nelly DB1 doorbell, configured firmware with HikVision firmware v200321. It has been working fine. Noticed recently though that the PIR sensor was cracked from folks pressing it. A couple of months ago updated the doorbell to the EZViz DB1 which was gifted to me and still new in the box. Installed firmware HikVision firmware v200321 and I was good to go. The mechanical door chime did not work so I installed the Guarding Vision app, deleted the camera and reinstalled it and noticed first question was what type of chime was connected or used. The app did initially try to update the firmware which reset the DB1 So I had to reinstall the firmware mentioned above. I was able to change the admin password and added another admin user and password just fine and the bottom section of Batch Configuration shows activated. I also added a Home Assistant connection via a Wemos D1 and a current sensor plus a combo Elk debounce board for the alarm panel connection. I am though switching over to the Reolink soon in 2026.
@MrPeteH - Note I was able to get the chime to work again after I installed the Guarding Vision app, deleted the doorbell and reinstalled the doorbell. On re installation first question was what type of chime did I have connected. The removal of the mechanical chime has happened a couple of time with reboots and I was alway able to install the android app (not using it) and reinstalled the mechanical chime.
