Factory Reset HA Green : Solution

Hello Community,

I just want to share what I went tough the weekend,

I’ve been dealing with DNS issues on my Home Assistant Green and after trying everything without success to fix the issue, I decided to factory-reset it using the official guide (Resetting Home Assistant Green using an SD card). Unfortunately, following those steps seems to have broken my HA Green it no longer boots properly. I tried flashing three different microSD cards, but none of them successfully reinstall Home Assistant OS. The device always hangs during boot and eventually drops into the emergency CLI.

Thankfully, I had a backup and restored it to a VM on a Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro, and everything worked perfectly there, no DNS problems, was able to re add my Aleza amazon media player , etc

Issue:

  • DNS issues, unable to fix,
  • tried to flash Green, failed

Cause:

Missing Coin battery

there’s messages in one of those pics about the real time clock (rtc) vs ‘low voltage’

Solution

  • Open the green, installed a coin battery ( CR2032)
  • re flashed and the Green worked

So if you are having issues with flashing the green consider installing the CR2032 battery and try again

the steps are missing this critical points when you get the time sync error * Time sync fails, and this triggers the “low voltage detected, date/time is not reliable”, (Install a Battery and proceed with flashing)

Sadly,I lost my camera data on an SD card as I flashed 3 of them
