I am seeing this in my mosquitto broker logs: It doesn’t seem right (…250 is FPP), but maybe it is ok, I’m not sure:
2025-10-09 19:53:21: New connection from 192.168.1.250:46212 on port 1883.
2025-10-09 19:53:21: New client connected from 192.168.1.250:46212 as fpp_2649 (p2, c1, k60, u’mqtt’).
2025-10-09 19:53:43: Client fpp_4795 has exceeded timeout, disconnecting.
Attached are the 5 important photos of my setup from mqtt explorer, home assistant, scripts area of home assistant, and fpp setup. I really don’t know what else to look at.
I had this all working for years but I had a sd card crash and lost it all so I’m trying to rebuild all parts of the project.
I have tested directly on FPP and the sign is working properly, so I don’t have a hardware failure-- and it seems HA is publishing to the correct topic within mqtt based on mqtt explorer and it’s receipt but it’s like FPP isn’t receiving the communication.
I’ve also tested Rest API and it seems to work but I don’t know anything about rest and would rather not switch over if at all possible.
All, I’m really after is starting playlist from home assistant and stopping them. The playlist name in question is GYMSIGNPLAYLIST
