I like what home assistant did with the room overview.
You make a selection of rooms and all room info is shown.
It can really compete with standard google home gui.
Can we do the same with zones and what ever zones might contain.
- people in zone.
- local weather
- public transport information
- All sorts of local sensor information
- local camera feed
For this some zone changes must be made IMHO.
sub zones, or some other overview zone detection. That for the gui multiple zones inside a zone can be seen as being in one big zone.
sensors must be added to a zone. like to a room.
Nice to have: zones have a location. this can be very helpful for easily adding sensors to a zone. Like pick a weather integration select zone and your done with it. (or it shows a list of weather stations inside or closes to the zone)
Go NUTS:
make template for public zones. So that zones that can be visited by anyone in one nice template. and make it QR code scanable.
"You visit some town on your vacation see a sticker. This is a Home assistant public zones town. QR code. → scan → import → finish. navigate: zones → current zone.
and you see
- local weather.
- indicator of when its busy or not.
- information about the zone. like historical information.
- the menu of the local restaurants with there stars and some description.
- public transport
- map with location of the taxi’s
All this info can be made aware to the AI if structured right.
so you can ask what is the weather? when does the bus/train/metro to Haarlem leave? Tell me something interesting about this place? - Your in a gothic church build in…
We just dont compete just with cloud home automaton solutions we compete with cloud/AI in general.
