I would like to be able to remove links (ALDB records) from both controllers and responders via the Insteon HA UI. It appears I cannot.
Sorry for the delayed response here. Using the Insteon panel from the side bar, you can select the device and select the All-Link Database tab. Select any link and uncheck the “In Use” box. After making the change write this to the device. This will effectively delete the link.
I tried this, but it did not work. it still lists them as not “in_use”, but they are still there.
Is there a delay?
Edit: Never mind, they went away after a bit.
Good to know it appears to be working as expected. Just know that in Insteon there is no way to technically “delete” a link. The process is to mark the link as “not in use” so that the device then skips these records when deciding if it responds to a message from another device.
By the way, when you click the box to mark the link as not in use, you need to then write those changes to the device. Just making sure you did that too. Otherwise the device is not changed.
I would be nice to not display the links that are not in use. I have some devices that I bought used and need to delete a lot of links. It is confusing to see all of these ones not in use.
There are a few changes coming in the next month or so.
- Make the unused links invisible under almost all situations (unless you have the “Advanced” toggle set in your user profile)
- Delete devices from Insteon all together.
In the first implementation, the delete function will only work for devices that were once recognized by Home Assistant as opposed to dead devices from ages ago that never worked in Home Assistant.
