Fibaro Device (but I am a newbee)

Hi,
just setup my HA Yellow Standard, looks greate and started with a Fibaro FGMS-001. In HA I try to add a ZibBee device, and get some searching page and at my device I pressed a button as they told me, but nothing happens.
Did I need a Fibaro hub? I thought, the HA Yellow did it all.

That is a zwave device. Not a zigbee device.

Although Fibaro did make some Apple Homekit versions of sensors, most of their hardware is Z-Wave including the FGMS-001.

I have several FGMS-001 and they work well with HASS, but you will need Z-Wave JS and a Z-Wave radio - typically a Z-Wave JS-compatible USB dongle. Sensor battery life is noticeably better with HASS than with some other platforms.

A Fibaro HC can work with HASS, but I’d recommend a USB radio on an extension lead or 90-degree USB adaptor from Amazon to have the radio stick upwards for maximum range. Aeotec work fine, just avoid the original v5 (hardware issues fixable with soldering).

If this helps, this post!

Same, I have about a dozen of these. Your Yellow has Zigbee, if you want Z-Wave to support these then you need to add a Z-Wave dongle.

And I agree, that Motion Sensor is a great looking device, although I know some people hate it because it reminds them of the Eye of Sauron

I like them for exactly the same reason!

One automation to rule them all, and in the dark blind them! :mage:t2: :eye:

The temperature sensitive colour changing eye is rather nice, and even more so that the expensive batteries now last at least double than they used to under a previous Z-Wave implementation (even after winding down Z-Wave sleep settings).

The trick with FGMS-001 is to trigger ON "When PIR changes to Detected" and OFF when "When PIR changes to Clear for 20:00". This avoids their problems with NOT re-triggering on continued motion, which spawned an 'orrible state machine as a bad fix on another platform.

… ah, ok, my fault.
So I have to add a zWave dongle to my HA Yellow, any suggestion?

Personally I like the Aeotec Gen5+ controller myself, I know there were a lot of issues with the Gen7 but they may be worked out now, I just didn’t care to be fiddling with that when my last Z-Stick died.

Don’t forget a USB extension cable for that and maybe a powered USB hub (I don’t know if Yellow has a beefy enough power supply to not need one).

Ah, thanks. So there is driver support in HA and on the Yellow, so just connect the dongle (the right way, power, radio …) and it should work?
