File opened in another program

Moving from Win10 to Ubuntu 18.04 (I’m a Linux noobe). I formerly edited Hassio files in Notebook++ running on Win10. I have installed Notebook++ on the machine running Ubuntu 18.04.

When I attempt to save an edited Hassio file, I get the error message “Please check if this file is opened in another program”. So far as I can tell the file is not open in any other program

What is a good/easy way to edit Hassio files on Ubuntu 18.04?

So, I don’t use Hassio, so I’m not sure what that environment might allow / not allow. But, in general, you can probably use xed, which may already be on your system. If not, you should be able to install it fairly easily. It’s a pretty easy to use editor.

I also use Notepad++ on Windows. For Linux I’ve been using Notepadqq, which is one of the Notepad++ alternatives for Linux. Or I’ve heard good things about Atom, but really haven’t used it.

Having said all that, it may be your problem is more permissions related than something weird about Notepad++ on Linux.

You were right on. I installed Atom and my file editing problems went away. Learning to use Atom seems pretty straight forward.

Thanks.
