File sensor never fits state-card

HI,

Using the file Sensor for my log-file, the entries always drop off the Card. Is this a formatting issue or a bug…

More-info is even worse, but at least showing all the text

  - platform: file
    file_path: /config/home-assistant.log
    name: Log tail

looking for the WARNING and ERROR in the logfile, what could be a value_template to show only these? (For debugging purposes, I dont want to setup the logger to only display warning and error in the home-assistant.log, so need to filter in this file sensor)

The file sensor platform was written to display numerical values and not in particular strings.

The Developer tools already contains a frontend part to display log messages.

Ok I understand that and appreciated. Of course I do use the Log, (and the examples in the documentation) but one has to go back to the dev-tools each time to find certain info. (Clicking the system alerts for mor-info reveals no history of any kind)

I kind of like to have a dashboard like this, and compare the Logfile to other info directly:

Nevertheless, it should go beyond the card shouldn’t it? (which of course it doesn’t right now…c;-) )

Also the developer log is just the plain log file, and this file sensor could through some templating be of extra use, only showing specific info.

Anyways, hope this could be amended, and looking for some help filtering the Error and warning messages in a template. If at all possible of course.
Cheers,
Marius
