Finally. Attic Temperature Monitoring success

For some short background:
I am currently on Home Assistant .92.X running on an Aeotec USB zwave stick/Intel NUC combo.

The combo I’ve found that seems to work really well is the Qubino Zwave Plus temperature controller ZMNHID3. The cable that comes with it is not built for high temps and is a bit too short to get up higher in the attic for real temperature.

So I purchased this sensor and replaced the original sensor by splicing the original Qubino connector onto the cable. The new sensor has 6 feet of shielded cable and is covered in silicone wrap instead of PVC, so it works much better in a hot attic.

I found a ceiling light that the builder had chained power through so I installed the tapped the power and installed the Qubino inside the light fixture, then ran the sensor cable through the back of the box into the attic. That way the Qubino stays cool enough to survive.

You will need to filter a bunch of the extra Qubino stuff as it has two switches with set points etc…

Just thought I would share

Nice Zwave sensor/Thermostat but you sound like the type of person that would enjoy messing around with ESPHome or Tasmota.

Happy Automating!
