Finally dropped the Pi. This was my Move to Docker

Not sure if I’m there yet but with all the recent ‘Out of Sync’ errors I’ve been getting I may rethink it.

Ha - I moved away from pi this week too, must be something in the water

I’ve gone for a venv install on a Dell Wyse thin client that I managed to get off ebay for £40 (and upgrade with a SSD flash module I already had).

I’ll do a write-up at some point, but I’m really pleased with it and, like yourself, the sudden deluge of extra possibilities has me really excited.

Love reading your blog btw :+1:

I was getting them every 3 seconds on the Pi. They ALL went away after the migration. ALL OF THEM.

Yes. The docker framework was en eye opener… now I’m just dropping search terms into hub.docker.com to see what other open source I can run. Minecraft and UniFi were 2 after thoughts that worked out great. Spinning up and testing out new software in minutes is a game changer.

I’m not sure why you are implying emulated_hue doesn’t work on non-RPI platforms? Running just fine here under Ubuntu…

For me, emulated_hue only worked if I was hard wired with Ethernet. My Docker host was wireless only. That was a hurdle for me in terms of migrating hardware.

That said, I also wanted to migrate to the cloud component from a support perspective as well so I’m glad the way it worked out.

Microsoft SQL 2017 runs great in docker. Talk about an eye opener!

I have made a number of changes in the last couple of weeks to my overall setup which has caused me MANY MANY headaches in trying to resolve but the only thing I have changed within my HA set up was the removal of CloudMQTT and activating the internal MQTT within Hassio.

At some point I will deactivate and see if the timing issues resolve.

Other than that, pfSense and VLANS are about to drive me insane.
