Hi all! I built a free Home Assistant setup for the Finnish spot electricity price (pörssisähkö) and wanted to share it.
1. Integration (HACS, no YAML)
In HACS → Custom repositories, add this with type Integration: github.com/sahkonhintanyt-ha/sahkon-hinta-nyt-ha
Download, restart, then add “Sähkön hinta nyt” from Settings → Devices & services.
sensor.sahkon_hinta_nyt – current price in snt/kWh (VAT incl.), with today’s and tomorrow’s prices as attributes
binary_sensor.sahko_halpaa – on during the cheapest hours of the day (default 4, configurable)
No API key, no registration. A YAML package is also available if you prefer.
2. Blueprints
Cheapest hours → turn on device (water heater, EV charging, floor heating)
Price alert → phone notification when the price goes below/above your limit
One-click import buttons for both are in the GitHub README:
3. Lovelace card (HACS)
In HACS → Custom repositories, add this with type Dashboard: github.com/sahkonhintanyt-ha/sahkon-hinta-card
Shows today’s and tomorrow’s prices as a chart (negative prices below the zero line), and lets you create price alerts, cheapest-hours control and scenes right from the card.
Hi. Thanks, just what I’m looking for. For some reason I cannot import blueprint Cheapest hours > turn device on. I cannot find the link what to copy to ha and by clicking import blueprint to my ha just opens the importing screen without link.
Any advice?
Thanks!
-Juha
That usually means the one-click import button didn’t pass the blueprint URL through to your instance, so the import dialog opens with an empty field. The fix is to copy the blueprint’s file URL manually: in the repository, open the blueprint YAML for “Cheapest hours” and copy its raw file address, then in Home Assistant go to Settings > Automations & scenes > Blueprints, click Import blueprint and paste it there. It should then import and show up in your blueprint list for creating the automation.
Hi Juha, thanks for trying it and sorry for the trouble!
You can import it manually with the direct file link. In Home Assistant go to Settings → Automations & scenes → Blueprints → Import blueprint and paste this URL:
One thing to check: the “cheapest hours” blueprint uses binary_sensor.sahko_halpaa, so the Sähkön hinta nyt integration needs to be installed first (HACS → add it → Settings → Devices & services → Add integration). After that, create an automation from the blueprint and pick your device.
If it still doesn’t import, tell me your Home Assistant version and I’ll take a look.
Thanks Mikael, spot on! Manual import with the file URL is the reliable way when the one-click button opens an empty dialog. I’ve posted the direct links above, and I’ll double-check the import buttons in the first post.
