I have my Fire Tablet 10 using Fully Kiosk to display my dashboard along with a TP Link smart plug to auto turn on/off to maintain battery between 20%-80%. Every 3 days (religiously) I come home to a dead tablet because HA stopped seeing my tablet, which causes my automation with plug to not run leading to battery depleting to 0%.
Currently to prevent this, once a day or every other day, I exit Full Kiosk, fire up the HA app then exit back to Fully Kiosk to reset this “3 day” timer.
Thoughts on what’s going on or how to fix? Thanks in advance!
Update: I changed the battery entity from the “Mobile Device” version to “Fully Kiosk” battery state. Fully seems to be more reliable than the tablet battery state in “Mobile App”. Thank you everyone
Can you change this ambiguous language to something we can all understand with more certainty? How does Home Assistant “see” your tablet? Post the automation perhaps?
I have an older wall-mounted Fire 10 running Fully, but connecting to my weather station and not HA. It seems to be rebooting itself every few days, possibly due to a Fully memory leak. (The TTS voice gets choppy right before it reboots.) Also, the Fire 10 has been crying every few days for permissions to install an Alexa update that I have no interest in installing. I have never installed the HA app on this Fire 10, although I do have it configured as a device in HA and use it as my HA TTS announcer.
Don’t know if these are causing your problems, but throwing it out there since it is Fully on an older Fire 10…
See below for battery read. It seems to stop recording the battery level every 3 days or so. For example, let’s say the battery reduces to 64% then 63% then stops until the tablet dies. While stuck on reading 63% for hours, it’s really at 18% until 0. If I exit fully (still assuming I caught it at 18%), open HA app, then go back into fully, the battery percent is refreshed to its real state at 18%. This then triggers the automation (since battery is below 20%) and turns on the smart plug to start charging.
The flat lines circled in red are when the battery level stops recording. The dips highlighted in faint yellow are when I manually turn the smart plug back on and it starts charging and measuring matter life.
As far as battery, it triggers plug to turn on to charge when below 20% and continues this cycle for about 3 days. Then it stops reading live battery % and seems to freeze at a fixed % even though the battery is still draining to zero outside of the fully app, until it dies.
Why aren’t you displaying the dashboard with this instead of Fully Kiosk? Have you made sure the mobile app isn’t being killed by the OS as it’s always in the background? Try making it the foreground app.
