Firmware updates failing after 2024.8 with ZHA

I have 2024.8.3 installed on a bare metal NUC with a Skyconnect dongle using ZHA.

I have about 20 Third Reality water leak detectors around my home. They all updated firmware to 0.40 fine out of the box in May. I started receiving firmware update notifications for v0.42 in July and updated about half of them without problems. After updating my HA server to 2024.8, I haven’t been able to update the remaining detectors. I see the “update available” in Settings, click it, click Install, and receive an error

“Failed to perform the action update/install. Update was not successful: <Status: FAILURE: 1>”

For my process, when I get an update notification, I place the detector next to my Skyconnect coordinator and trigger it, then wait until I see in the visualization that the detector is connected directly to the coordinator, then I trigger the update.

I’ve been hoping it will get better with the 2024.8.x updates but still no luck. Anyone else having trouble with firmware updates on ZHA, or with these devices?

Go figure, after posting this after days of not working, the update finally started and completed successfully. Now I’ll have to wait for HA to realize the remaining devices need a firmware update and see how that goes.

Maybe what I do is not productive, but when an update comes out I usually wait about a month and a half until I apply it. As a general rule, there is always one that comes out immediately with bug fixes.
