Good day all,
I’ve transferred my large Z-Wave network of 74 devices from Vera to Home Assistant, manually adding each device. Most of the devices were already hard in place, so I moved my Vera controller and HA RPI from room to room, excluding and including devices.
The problem with this approach is unfortunately that the Z-Wave mesh isn’t built correctly, since the devices are being included as direct connections to the controller.
Right now, Home Assistant is telling me that I have 20 devices that are “dead”. Many of these are battery powered devices, but some are not. I’ve tried reinterviewing these devices after waking them up, but it’s not successful. At first I was trying healing the network, but I understand it can take over 24 hours on a network my size, and it won’t finish until it addresses battery powered devices, of which 13 of the 20 are.
Is there a better approach? I’ve tried both through Zwave JS through Devices and Services, and I also discovered Zwave JS UI, which just got updated to 1.0.
Edit: I’m down to 12, and they’re all battery powered devices. More specifically, they are my iBlinds IB2.0 blind motors.
