Flash Esphome on Phillips Downlight Zhirui

Hello everyone,

I have 3 Philips Zhirui downlight. I recently find a GitHub repo that share an Esphome config for them, so I want to flash them to get rid of the Xiaomi cloud part.

But I don’t know how to dismantle them in order to get access to the electronic part.

Does anyone have done this before ? I tried but I’ve heard plastic broke so I didn’t go further.
Some help or pointing ressources at me would be great!

Thanks

I haven’t dismantled those, but physically similar AI-Light bulbs just pull apart. It requires a bit of force, but they just pop off in my experience.

It’s not really a bulb it’s a downlight. But thanks for your suggestion.

I have flashed about 10 of these lights. the first step is to remove the spring ‘ears’. You can squeeze them together and lift one side out and then the other that runs through the middle. Then I used 2 small flat screwdrivers (2-3mm wide). You can run them around the obvious seal between the body and the front section. Find a crack and insert the screwdriver. There are 2 poistions (opposite sides) that clip the body together. Sometime it will break the plastic, but they will still hold together. Once separated, the wider section with the LEDs comes off on a 3-pin header. Then you can remove the PCB, it just has 2 or 3 clips - again the screwdriver is your friend. All of the GPIO you need are on the header - the PCB is difficult to see which traces are which, esp GPIO0.
