Flush-mounted Radio for Bathroom and control via HomeAssistant

Hello, im looking for a flush-mounted / in-wall mounted radio for my bathroom.
Right now there is this build in radio - so im looking for something similiar.

But - i do want to control / start it via wifi / zigbee or whatever build in homeassistant. Are there any compatible radios for this?
Minimum requirement would be - if movement turn radio on for X Minutes.

Thank you

What’s your geography? Power and radio requirements vary by location.

Hey, it’s for germany / 230 V / it could be DAB+ but it also could be an
“internet radio” which is only capable of playing online radio stations.
In fact - “Antenne Bayern” or “Bayern 3” would be great :->

What about replacing with a wall tablet? Sink an outlet with USB power support into that box instead of a radio, then wall mount a tablet over it? Or you you HAVE to have speakers right there?

Id there anything else that install is controlling except delivering radio and possibly intercom?

I would think about other solutions if there’s definitely not solution in compatible hardware compatible to homeassistant.

It’s a rental apartment - and if i only could replace this build in thing with something better i would do it.

I’m nearly controlling everything via homeassistant in this apartment - so it would be nice if i could also start the radio.
Here’s an example capable of wifi: Gira Unterputz-Radio IP

but - it is very expensive - and also i didn’t find any ready to use homeassistant solution for it.

Sooo - if someone knows something - happy to hear.

Otherwise - i could install something else as you mentioned - but im not sure what.
I do not need great controls there - it should only be a “speaker” which plays my favorite radio stations while showering…

EDIT - if i “wall mount” a tablet there - is it then possible to tell homeassistant to play radio station XYZ when this and that happens?
If yes - could you please point me to some tutorial for this?

Thank you

I own my home and even in the US I do not see a lot of controllable ‘radios’ like this

NuTone used to manufacture a lot of this kind of device in the states and a quick glance at thier stuff shows a general walk away from it. (honestly I just don’t see a lot of them anymore because wifi connected smart speakers are a thing, most of what I’m finding are self contained IPX7 waterproof devices meant to go in the shower.)

Both of my bathrooms get audio from essentially what are glorified Bluetooth speakers driven from Alexa devices. Mine are sunk into the ceiling and powered by PoE but you could just have a nice Bluetooth kit (the previous mentioned speakers) on a counter or a waterproof one in the shower… Then use HA to drive those. But I’m not seeing a lot of ‘controllable radios’ in any country.

Thank you for your informations - indeed - i also didn’t see this radios very often - but i seems to be a “new trend” to build in these radios - at least - the 4 new rentals i had a look at - had these radios.

Was worth a “ask” - probably the most are closed source.
Is it possible to play a radio station on a BL Speaker like a Bose Box via homeassistant without alexa?
If yes - could you point me to a tutorial or addon?

Thank you

What you have looks very nice !
I have a different setup.
I have a Chromecast connected to it and the power of the amplifier is connected to a switch (Zwave, Zigbee or wifi). This allows me to control both the audio stream (Chromecast) as well as the on/off. Therefore there are 2 cables going into the device on the outside, though it should be possible to hide both the Chromecast as well as a controlable on/off switch inside the wall.

Yes - thats the point why i was/am looking for the same solution only in better

Also a nice setup - but i would like to have something without alexa / chromecast or something.

So if possible - BL Speaker - Connect to HA and then play from HA Radio stations.
But this is not possbile - is it?

I have in fact two of these, one in our kitchen and one in the master bathroom. In both cases, they connect to built-in speakers just below the ceiling. Previously these were wired to antiquated Bose systems. For a variety of reasons (including that one of the wires went bad inside the wall) I decided to replace everything with Chromecast and Google Nest Audio in all rooms, which allows me to cast radio stations throughout the home, using HA.
These Pyle Wireless BT Receivers have Bluetooth which I have not explored, but I see no reason why you could not cast streams through Bluetooth. Whether the Bluetooth also works the other way, from the Pyle device to a Bluetooth speaker is something I don’t know… but why not ?

Ok seems like i could you Sonos or Ikea SYMFONISK speakers and connect them directly to HA. I’ll try to test this maybe.

Hey there - bought an Sonos One SL - working perfectly with HA
Media Player and favorite radio station - not what i wanted - bigger
and more expensive - but working really good.
