Hi,
I consider buying the forest shuttle curtain rail. I can’t figure out which type integrates in home assistant. There are wifi/zigbee and zwave versions. Anyone having any suggestions where to start?
Gr. and thanks in advance,

They are listed as compatible with ZwaveJS, which is used by HA.

If I had to choose, I will go that route…
You will need a Zwave controller, like the Zwave.me UZB stick.
That’s my first thought, but my concern is that there is no integration for forest. Do you think I don’t need an integration? The forest can also be used by pulling at the curtain, so it’s reasonably smart by itself…?
I’m pretty sure, it will work without integration. It will present it self as a window cover, HA can manage that itself.
And if not, you can still return it
I also found some reviews at Robb shop, where is said, it worked out of the box with Domoticz, Fibaro and Homey. So, it should do the same with HA
Thanks again. I will give it a try.
Were you able to connect it to HA?
In case you have a forrest shuttle with a wifi-dongle:
I noticed that the forrest app looks exactly the same as smart-life app. Connecting to that works perfectly with HA ![]()
First you have to connect your smart-life/tuya to HA -->info can be found here: Tuya - Home Assistant
Then to connect Forrest to smart-life:
With that you can now open and close it with HA.
I would be interested to know how the Z-Wave version of the Shuttle motor works with HA, as I am considering purchase. Does it allow intermediate postions e.g. 40% open, or is it just open/close control?
a bit late, @robertwigley it does work with percentages, when connected to google home you can say curtains at 50 to get it half open.
I use the zwave variant
I have the Z-Wave version and can confirm it works perfectly. You can set the position and still use simple open/close commands. I wasn’t even sure it would work with my setup, but I bought it anyway — luckily it works flawlessly. I connected it directly to Home Assistant using the ZWA-2 and it paired right away. I’m using two separate rails because the distance is quite long (around 10 meters). I also made a custom card so both rails can be controlled from a single card: DoubleCurtainCard
