I’m struggling to control my frame TV with Home Assistant.
I’ve had the integration setup for a while, but recently, I can’t power on the TV when it’s off. I’ve tried various methods, including the official Samsung integration, HACS samsung tv smart, and manually sending wake on lan packets, but nothing works.
I can turn off the TV using the integrations, but it won’t wake back up. The most i can do is toggle the power using a remote send command, but it alternates between art mode and fully powering on the TV. Once I power off the TV using a media player turn off command, I can’t get it back on.
Has anyone solved this issue or found a way to troubleshoot it further?
I’m not sure which event to listen to for troubleshooting. I’d appreciate any help in controlling my TV properly.
WoL packets are often only working on wired connections and if it the device can provide it on the WiFi too, then the WiFi AP/router need to support it too
Also TVs that can be remote controlled might have settings to not make them go fully to sleep, but these settings are often disabled to make the TV use less power for users without the need for remote controlling, so check your TVs settings.
The problem might be that many tvs after few minutes or less go into deep sleep. And will not turn on. When you turn it on with remote it became available and then you can control it with ha.
It is a bit frustrating situation.
You can try this for start.
Ping tv ip address and turn it off.
Let it be for a few minutes and try to turn it on with ha.
ok i tried that. basically the tv can’t be pinged a few seconds after you turn it off either with physical remote or by the home assistant remote entity
