Fresh install fails to boot

ok brand new, got given some wroom chip etc etc etc and want to play, follow some website instruction, install something called ESP home, nope cant have that without home assistant, trying installing and thats where I am failing to boot home assistant.

follow instructions Windows - Home Assistant hyper v dowload lates file, installs runs boots up everything ok green then goes to 'Waiting for the home assistant CLI to be ready, then cycles through several [ok] started home assistant then starts a container then finally ends up with [WARN] Home assistant CLI not starting! jump into emergency console…

Assuming this is the fault the the URL doesnt work. tried all the variation of home assistant url / ip etc. instruction docs dont really cover errors. Tried finding commands to interrogate systems cant find anything, tried discord no one wants to help noob there all 1000 miles ahead

ready to throw this lot in the bin if i cant even start an officially downloaded out the box build!?, sureley this whole esp / home thing isnt this hard?

help to relevant docs / info / experience appreciated

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum!

So it seems you were not running HA (Home Assistant) until now.
Strictly, you don’t need it to use that ESP wroom device and there are other ways, one being Arduino IDE

It all depends on what you want to do with the microcontroller and whether HA is something you want to invest in because the learning curve can be quite steep so you need patience & persistence.

ok great, sounds like iam trying to run a 100 mph, ill start with arduino IDE and move up accordingly once iam comfortable, cheers
