Frigate Streams Broken After 2024.11

After updating this month to 2024.11.0 all my camera streams from Frigate fail to play in Home Assistant.
Anyone else experiencing this?

To be clear, Frigate itself works. I can go to the addon and see the streams from the Frigate UI.

And in my camera cards I’ll see a recent snapshot or video frame. But when I click on it to play and warch the live stream it fails to play any of them.

I have the same in the frigate hacs card. Live view over go2rtc works. But show recorded clips will not work, but i figured out its not frigate, its the media player. if i open the clips from frigate in media browser, i cant open it too. nor error or else. simply nothing happens.
In the frigate Addon, clips working
Thank you!
best regards Bonkersdeluxe

Mine are not working either. Don;t know why.

Same problem here.

I am guessing might be related to this new video stream format (WebRTC) support in HA…

Definitely with the latest update. I just hope some fixes it soon.

I found the solution.
Go to settings and integrations. Edit the Frigate integration itself and enable the webrtc option. Then reload for good measure.

I enabled webrtc, just like @swelch said, but frigate videos still aren’t playing (Media / Frigate / Clips).

I do have an error message in the log file:
10:27:50.777 WRN [rtsp] error=“streams: codecs not matched: H264 => ANY” stream=camera.voortuin_sub_stream_orginal

Chiming in, same issue for me. Frigate works (running as a separate container), and I can see the snapshots.
I can currently view the stream in my android app, but not on desktop (chrome).
I can not view any clips, on any devices, however

I just installed the 2024.11 today, having the same issue. I use Frigate in a separate, lxc container. Until now media>frigate>clips worked great. Since the upgrade it doesn’t work, but I have no idea why. I tried to dig in logs, I haven’t found anyting. Snapshots are working great.

Same issue for me. Can see live streams, but it wont play any clips.
Nothing in logs.
Started with 2024.11
Found this on frigate github: It’s a bug introduced by home assistant

I have also noticed the same thing, frigate recordings work perfectly until HA-core release 2024.10.4. The bug within the brandnew webRTC thingy occured with HA-core release 2024.11, 2024.11.1 and also 2024.11.2. So I switched back to 2024.10.4.

Hi, I tried your suggestion to enable the WebRTC option in the Frigate integration and reloaded it, but unfortunately, it didn’t resolve the issue for me. However, I was able to fix the problem by running ha core update --version 2024.10.4 in the terminal on Home Assistant. This fixes it temporarely.

The streams are now working as expected. I hope this bug gets fixed by the developers of Home Assistant.

Same here :frowning:

HA code update 2024.11.3 released today Nov 22 doesn’t mention anything in the release notes about this bug. Problem remains. I would have thought this would be a fairly major bug.

One thing to note. I am using the go2rtc configuration option in the frigate yaml.

I think that in conjunction with the WebRTC option in the UI is what is making it work for me.

I do not get audio in my camera cards anymore though. Only in the frigate addon itself.

This may just be a go2rtc setting I need to configure. Haven’t looked yet.

I,m confused. Am I supposed to be fixing this? I haven’t seen any official acknowledgement of the issue on the HA side

I access Home Assistant using reverse proxy (pfsense HAproxy). Everything worked fine before release 24.11.3. Now, when on LAN, I can view real-time steams from frigate but no recordings. Remotely (4g-5g) real-time streams freezes and also no recordings. Accessing frigate remotely works just fine.

I’m also seeing this issue.

same here, downgrading to 2024.10.4 ( ha core update --version 2024.10.4 in terminal ) fixes things.
Hopefully someone from HA actually acknowledges this issue ?

EDIT : Turns out there’s an update to the Frigate integration which fixes things.

Update the integration via HACS if thats how you installed it, or update your custom_component.
I’m now on 2024.11.3 with fully functional Frigate camera streams.

EDIT 2 : if you enable WebRTC in this integration, then you must first take the time to configure & activate it in Frigate itself.

Does it works for recordings as well. I had functional live stream, but events from before cannot be seen. If I understand correctly it’s something related to media component, and might be released in December update coming next week…
