I would like the ability, either via UI or config, to structure the front-end cards in any order I want.
Drag and drop cards would be amazing, however a priority somewhere in the groups.yaml would be sufficient.

I think setting up a “default_view” group allows you to control the order; not sure though.

It does for some but not all. For instance, media_player and camera follow the order in which they were loaded.

There is an “order” option in the customize: section, but I found it really unfriendly to use. I don’t even know where it is mentioned in the documentation.
I’ve been playing with the group ordering and I have found a fix that has been working for me through reloads. If you put your groups into the customize section, and put an order on it, it should honor that order. An example of mine is below
