Please consider adding a release
event in addition to the frontend tap
and hold
events.
This would allow for automated increment/decrement loops until button release (e.g. volume control).

Any news about this? Alternative custom component or anything?
This request is about core functionality. Start a topic if you want 3rd party functionality.
No there is no news. I suspect it is not possible with the upstream controls the project is using.
This is really necessary to implement smooth volume control, seeking forward/backward on TV remote controls and manual vacuum controls
Bumping this as this would make it a lot more intuitive for any action that uses a start/stop function. (Dimmers/Blinds/Volume/etc)

I just went to do another dimmer integration yesterday and noticed that release is now a trigger! Thanks to the devs!
Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon, I see it as an action available to some of my smart buttons but not on the virtual ones, like helpers or cards/tiles.
As a work around, I have toggle helpers that enables/disables the action and that is activated through a double tap of a button. Not ideal, but it works once you get used to double tapping to enable and double tapping to stop again.
