I yesterday connected my NAS as a media folder to include camera recordings.
Unfortunately the full backup creation at night then failed and crashed my whole home assistant os (Pi4B) and I had to reboot it in the morning. Usually the backup is around 200MB, the time when it crashed it was ~6GB. Unfortunately I don’t have any logs due to the restart.
Is there a way to perform a full backup with media, but exclude mounted network drives?
Of course I could do a partial backup, but this would have some minor drawbacks (like restoring a fresh installation would not work from the onboarding screen for example).
I ran into this issue on my test Pi, when selecting a partial backup in the onboarding it complained with an error message that a restore is not possible with a partial backup (can’t remember the detailed wording).
When I then created a full backup it worked as expected.
The more severe issue is that the full backup includes the mount in /media, I could imagine this is not intended…
So a full backup also tries to backup the content of the mounted network storages (and does it make a difference if I add it as media or share, I haven’t actually understood what the difference is)?
I just upgraded HAOS to version 10 and wanted to start mounting my Nextcloud storage, but this would be a no-go (Nextcloud has 800GB of data) and I better do not want to try that out but therefore first ask here.
At the moment I can just do full regular backups with the Samba Backup Add-On.
Manually performing partial backups with deselecting the network storage can’t be the way to go.
And if I create a script with the partial backup command, it only seems to have the option to include add-ons and folders, but not exclude them?!
At this moment i’am trying to mount a network storage, the media mount is working but my bakcup mount is niet working when i make an bakcup nothing happends.
Going true truenas to see what the difference is between the two shares on that side.
