I’m running the same Hardware and FKB without this issue. Could be any combination of cards and Home Assistant updates.
Do you have any animated cards? E.g. weather icons? This was my cause and took a lot of investigation to resolve. Was also the cause of someone elses issue on Reddit which I helped with the other day. Remove animation card and monitor.
No, no animation for me.
I have FKB on two tablets and all is working fine as usual. But I haven’t checked whether the app is up to date.
Thanks all. Let me investigate what card could be the issue.
Revisiting this thread. I still face issues with FKB and my dashboard. My dashboard mainly consists of entities card, filter cards, some custom button cards. However these are not complex (mainly just icon changed based on the state of entity, etc.)
But I do face issue - when I reload the page, all works. Clicking on entities is snappy. All until I click on some button card. Example would be this button card:
type: custom:button-card
icon: mdi:sleep
size: 40px
name: Sleep
color_type: card
tap_action:
action: call-service
service: script.turn_on
service_data:
entity_id: script.sleep
double_tap_action: none
hold_action: none
confirmation:
text: '[[[ return `Sleep?` ]]]'
color: var(--disabled-text-color)
styles:
card:
- background-color: rgb(0, 0, 0)
- border-radius: 10%
- padding: 10%
- color: ivory
- font-size: 9px
- text-transform: capitalize
- height: 80px
- width: 80px
icon:
- color: white
At this moment tablet would become slow, it would take seconds (10-15) until I get confirmation pop-up, and even after that, clicking on entities is slow or not responsive, until i reload the page.
I do not observe the same behavior in Chrome though. So chrome seems to work fine.
I have experimented with changing multiple webview versions, but without any apparent success.
I have tried factory resetting tablet, setting FKB again from scratch, but none of these helped. Anyone has any lead what could be causing this?
I have the same type of issues and yes, I have the weather radar card. I really like seeing where the rain cells are before leaving the house. Is there a way I could see the weather in a card that is updated maybe once every 15 minutes instead of the animation?
The publisher of FKB could probably be able to help more on web rendering and performance issues like this. He is pretty responsive.
You mean here in the forum?
Rather contacting FKB app support directly.
What i’m experiencing lately are webview crashes. I get “webview stopped responding” notice on multiple tablets. I tried to install “normal” webview, dev version, beta…still the same. But, it seems that after each error FKB restarts and it continue to work…
It seems that I was wrong. I installed HA Companion app last night, to see if this works OK. It does not. I came to tablet this morning, clicked on some icon and it was not responding.
So seems this is common for HA Companion app as well, maybe even chrome, and I just wasn’t patient enough and did not wait long enough.
Hi
Has anyone succesfully added the camera from the tablet running fully kiosk?
What i want to do, is to create a button on my dashboard, which starts the live stream from the camera of the tablet, and when i push it, it stops streaming?
When i look into the integration, i see a camera entity, when i click it, i can see video although its lagging a lot.
How do i do this, to make it fluent and add it to my dashboard?
I’m still struggling to find what is causing a memory crash in my FKB.
I’ve X’ed out most of the dashboards that I have, and only have 3 of them now. All core frontend integrations (or mostly). I do have guage cards, camera cards and entities with plots, but still, every 3 to 6 days, I have to reboot the tablet. Its bee fine up untill last month, and I have not made any changes to my dashboard.
Anyone have troubleshooting tips to narrow this down? thanks
You’re in a trial-and-error slog. Start with uninstalling FKB, erase all settings and install with the defaults. Do not change anything in settings. Open a blank or default dashboard and wait. Go from there.
I restart my tablet every morning automatically, dirty solution tho
I would disable cameras first and see. Camera stream is heavy for any (not so powerfull) machine.
I have not had a crash in about 16 days, so im not sure what has changed other than me blanking or “x’ing” about 80% of the my dashboards (18 days ago, around the time I updated to core 2024.9.0 beta). The memory on the tablet still goes from 1700 to 400 and then back to 1700 mb (it always done that) but does not crash.
so, fingeres crossed it has been fixed.
