Running Fully Kiosk on Lenovo M8. When Fully Kiosk Mode (Plus) not enabled, screen times out in 15 seconds and stays off until movement. When in Fully Kiosk Mode (Plus) enabled, screen times out in 15 seconds, but then after about a second, turns right back on. What option needs to be changed in (I imagine) the Fully Kiosk Mode to get this to work correctly?
There are so many settings. This works for me:
Device Management | Keep screen on to stop Android switching off the screen. (I think this is what is happening to you.)
Device Management | Screen off timer to set your own timeout. I have mine set to two minutes.
I have Kiosk mode disabled - I don’t think you need it unless you want to set a PIN or something similar.
Thank you for the response and well done my friend. Turns out, it’s because I was relying on the Android OS for the screen timeout versus the timeout settings in the Fully Kiosk menu. I set both settings above and it works great.
On a side note, I actually prefer Kiosk mode to avoid accidental finger presses. More of a polished look in my opinion. Thanks again.
Actually, it’s back up to it’s old tricks. On Fully Kiosk mode, screen goes black, but then immediately turns back on. If I either turn off Fully Kiosk mode or even just use the pin to access the settings screen, I don’t get this kind of behavior. Very odd.
Did you ever solve this? I just bought a m10 and it does the same thing. If I turn motion off the care goes off on darkness. However if I have motion on it goes off and on and off… It seems when the screen goes off motion is detected so the screen goes back on.
I realise this is a home assistant forum, but this topic turned up in Google and it’s the same as I’m experiencing.
Turned out mine seemed to be the acoustic trigger was set to 100 percent. I guess with screen off there must have been some noise created internally that turned the screen back on.
Yeah. It’s incredibly sensitive. I have my three settings under motion set as follows:
Detector Sensitivity: 70
Detector Frame Rate: 20
Darkness Level: 10
With these settings, it causes the tablet to switch back to Kiosk from screensaver when the lights go on (tablet is in a darkened hallway). Sometimes I have to waive a hand in front of the tablet, but it’s not unusual or anything. Let me know if you need any more tips with you having just purchased the M10.
I pretty much shut off all app notifications on the tablet. I also am running a purchased screensaver PixFolio which works perfectly with Kiosk. It allows you to select a Google Photo folder to cycle through photos. You can add and remove photos freely with minimal difficulty.
I set the acoustic trigger to 95 percent and seems to work OK. I want mine awake and on a screensaver if anyone is at home and awake so figured noise is a good one. I Also set it to darkness at 10 percent.
I use fotoo for my screensaver. Bought it years ago for another tablet on a wall, now stuck in a rut. It works well for Google photos as well
I was going bonkers in a dark room having the screen not turn on after tapping the screen (or just flash on for a millisecond).
This is the magical setting in Device Management
that puts a delay from the screen coming on and going back off.
Thank you!
Hi a big solution for me was to add the file via the screensaver playlist option rather than screensaver wallpaper url also in the end i turn off motion detection and it works perfectly, with motion detection on it still works but it woke up too easily now i have motion detection off and then you just tap to wake
Hi, I am having this issue with my Lenovo M10 turning on and off constantly. I like to use motion detection turning on the screen when a face is detected. As soon as I turn off motion detection I don’t see the issue.
- Keep screen on = enabled
- Keep screen on (advanced) = disabled
- Screen off timer = 30 second
- Screensaver timer = 0 (disabled)
- Enable visual motion detection = enabled
- Detector sensitivity = 30 (I have tried all from 0 to 90)
- Detector frame rate = 2
- Detect faces = enabled
- Trigger motion only when faces detected = enabled
- Turn screen off in darkness = disabled
- Acoustic detector motion detection = disabled
- Turn screen on on motion = enabled
- Exit screensaver on motion = disabled
Any idea what is going wrong?
OMG I tried everything and this was the solution. I was for giving up and changing this one setting sorted it. It now switches off and comes on when I approach it. Thanks for the help.
