Future proofing my config... maybe automations in group yaml files. Do I need to change?

I started way back with HA and Hassio and quickly decided that I should group my automations in an included directory. I grouped them my either device function or room function.

Going forward, the direction appears to be that everything will be configured in the UI and not in .yaml files. If this is the case, do I need to convert now and if so what is the best way to convert?

Thanks Matt

We have been repeatedly assured that this is not the case.

Despite these assurances some things can only be done using the UI, pretty sure automations will not ever be one of them…

Though having said that there have been some pretty fucking dumb choices lately (scenes, state colours) so who knows :man_shrugging:

Other than a single point in the UI to edit an automation, is there a benefit to using automations.yaml?

One advantage is that you can read what you write. Rather than having all the key: value pairs sorted alphabastardly.
