Garage Door Opener Help

Howdy, folks. I have two garage door openers I’d like to get working with HA. They’re both older units, one is a Genie screw drive with a keypad that’s not working which i assume is easy enough to replace, the other is a LiftMaster chain drive. Both units need new (replacement) remotes, both openers need to work with 3 different cars.

Is there an aftermarket module i can buy to get these working with HA? I saw the ratgdo32 unit mentiined onbthe forum Would that do the trick?

I bought a dumb garage door opener that allowed wiring to a wall switch. Then I just added a Aqara T2 zigbee module together with 2 wall switches I already had, hardwired to the motor.

Now I can open my garage door through Home Assistant and include it in automatisations like automatically opening when the car connects to our wifi or when it sees our phone is connected through Bluetooth with the car and we enter our Home zone.

The one I got is from HBOpeners, no complaints here and installation wasn’t too bad. Been working flawlessly for over a year.

90% of garage door openers have simple circuit to connect two contacts momentarily for sequence open-stop-close…
So some dry contact relay like Shelly 1 can do the job.
If you need more keyfobs, there are universal learning ones that you can buy to get a “copy” of the original.

Security plus unit get Ratgdo

Dry contact I would just get an esp32 relay board from Amazon or alibaba. You can connect magnetic door sensor to esp32 to detect open close

For sensing door open/close condition, I like using tilt sensors, that detect whether garage door is vertical or horizontal.

I use Zigbee tilt sensors from Third Reality, but there are others as well.
