My new house has this garage door motor:
The door can be opened from inside the garage with this button:
I would like to connect the door to homeassistant. What is the best (easiest, reliable, etc) way of doing this? Is the GoControl GD00Z-8-GC: Z-Wave Plus S2 Security, Black, Small my best alternative or is there something better?

It looks like that button is a simple closed contact. You could verify that by shorting the two wires together and seeing if the door opens and closes.
If it is you could use the GoControl GD units or a Meross unit or even a Shelly switch as some have done.
There’s also the WiFi based OpenGarage: https://opengarage.io/ which is what I’m considering getting for my garage doors.
I installed a GoControl GD00Z-8-GC. I was able to pair it with ZWaveJS2MQTT:
I am able to open and close the garage door from within ZWaveJS2MQTT.
Now I’m trying to figure out how to add a card to home assistant that shows me the state of the garage door and allows me to open it and close it. Could someone point me in the right direction?
