My children like turning on light in garage using the button on the garage door opener that is on the wall. In this case the light will stay on forever until I press that button one more time to turn off that light.
I cannot figure out how it work. There are only two cable that run from the garage door opener to that garage door mechanism that open/close my garage door. How does that button turn on/off that light? Better question is how to manage that light from HA? I want to add option to turn it off in 5 minutes.
I have a similar Opener “console” on the wall in my garage. When I was trying to add control for my garage door, I could never get it to work just hooking the relay to the terminals on the garage door opener. I ended up connecting relays to the wall console board. this gave me access to open the door, as well as turn the light on and off.
If I remember, I just followed the traces for the buttons. and soldered wire to the same spots. then connected the wires to to 2 relays, one for the door and one for the light.
Usually multiple switches just use resistors and capacitors to change the voltage for a set amount of time. The open/close usually is shorted out ( 0V ) and rest vary. Seems no manufacturers have a universal unit so it might not be standard.
Your best bet would be just to remove the panel and desolder the resistor or capacitor used for the light switch. The light should come on when the safety beams are interrupted but has a timer mode to turn off.
