I understand that. But if the door gets stuck at neither fully open or fully closed I would like the ability to see that. I hope that makes sense.

I did consider switching over to ESPHome (and may in fact do so for a future project).
However, on this occasion, I realised that I had installed an MQTT broker that was not one of the ones referenced in the HA MQTT setup instructions. Once I switched over, it started working.
