Suggest to make gas consumption in energy monitor available in kWh unit.
Currently just m3 is supported, kWh would be more transparent eg. for heating with solar energy or electrical power
The critical thing to remember is that 1 m3 of natural gas doesn’t always generate the same amount of electricity (kWh).
That’s because the energy density of natural gas varies a bit depending on the quality of natural gas (some produce more kWh, others less kWh):
Before conversion, every user needs to know and input his gas Calorific Value before HA is able to calculate the kWh.
The quality of gas can change per country and even per province.
Sure, calorific value changes montly.
I created meanwhile also an issue (VALID_ENERGY_UNITS_GAS wrong · Issue #79953 · home-assistant/core · GitHub),
because code should allow kWh, so seams to be a bug, lets wait for it.
