GE 45602 Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control Lamp Module with Dimmer Control

Hello,

I just purchased this module for control of some low-wattage string lights. I’d like to take advantage of the dimming capability of this module, but it shows up in Home Assistant as a boolean on/off switch.

The specific product it self-identifies as is “Jasco Products 45603 Plugin Appliance Module”. Does anyone have any experience setting this module up with dimming function enabled?

Basic Z-Wave, rather than Z-Wave Plus, but it is supported by the built in zwave integration, so it should just work.

It does show up, but it shows up as a switch, not a light, so dimming values cannot be assigned. Is there any way to change how zwave modules are assigned as a “switch” versus a “light” ?

Searches for that show that it’s a switch, not a dimmer.

As sold by GE, it is advertised as a dimmer. So there must be some truth to the unit’s ability to “dim”.

That link is for the 45602 (dimmer)

Your product is the 45603 (swich)

It’s not. It’s the 45602; both the packaging and the label on the unit itself make this clear. Within Home Assistant’s default Z-Wave device handling, it is self-identifying as the 45603, which is the issue.

The problem is that it identifies itself as 45603 (or more accurately 3030:5250) instead of 45602 (3230:4457).
