General hardware advice for running HA

Hi there.

I am currently running HA on a RPi3B+ with a zzh! Zigbee stick, with the operating system running off an SD Card. The system connects to three Zigbee bulbs.

The system runs OK but does seem a bit sluggish at times.

I also want to add a USB speaker to it, so it announces when the lights come on.

I also use an Odroid HC2, which runs Openmediavault and I used this for serving media, and recording TV via TVHeadend.

The HC2 only has 2GB or RAM and I was thinking of upgrading it to something a bit more powerful.

My question is whether it is advisable to run HA on a dedicated server or whether you can run on a general server that is doing other things.

Moving to a PC was the best thing I did speed it fast as

Thank you - what is your current set up?

If buying a new server, I would be going down the ARM route.
