General installation questions

I have just completed my HA installation and have a few questions.

  1. I used the generic x86-64 method using ubuntu to restore the debian headless image. Is this the HAOS installation method?
  2. Does the HAOS method use a container? If so…is this managed by HA? If not , where would I find instructions on how to manage the container?
  3. Does the HAOS method use a VM? If so…is this managed by HA? If not , where would I find instructions on how to manage the VM?
Sorry for the questions but just needed to clear up a few thing before moving forward.
    Thanks

Have you read this? Installation - Home Assistant

Yes…many times. Where can I find answers to my questions in the reference you have given? I haven’t read any reference to any VM or container name used in the HAOS method literature but saw during the installation (image restoration) some reference to both VM and container. All I’m asking for is some clarification.
Thanks

HAOS = Deploying HAOS (OS = Operating System) on bare metal or as a virtual machine. It uses containers, but HAOS manages them, you don’t do any management other than installing and updating.

Thanks for your help.

If you dropped an image and booted it. It’s haos.

If you built Linux and loaded it as an app it’s core.

If you built docker and deployed a docker image it’s container.

Since you are asking the question I’m assuming you didn’t load some kind of environment like Proxmox (you’d know if you did) so if you did #1 you’re most likely bare metal (no VM) on haos.

HAOS technically supports docker but don’t expect it to load up- insert container here - for that you can use addons - special purpose containers.

HAOS is an appliance don’t expect to ‘manage’ the os.

Thank you sir!

I have read and read and read, but can’t find my exact situation, so posting a question here. I purchased the HA Green, added the app to my Pixel tablet and S24 Ultra, plugged in the ethernet cable, then the power, and my devices not only cannot find it, they refuse to load the IP page or web address given with the instrx. No matter if I enter into the app the 192.168.1.123:8123 or the http://homeassistant.local:8123, it doesn’t find the server. Sometimes it will give me an error code: -6 with the description: net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
I’ve gone into my router settings to try to find a way to delete the ip address, hoping it would load another address and be seen, but while I can find the IP Address for HA, I can’t find how to change it. So my tablet is stuck on trying to find my HA Server, and just continually scanning… Thanks for any help you can afford me. And yes, I have restarted my router, the HA Green several times, disconnect all wiring, and reconnected it. Cheers!
