General NABUCASA question - combine with DUCKDNS addon or not?

Hi,

I am currently using HA with HASS.IO on UBUNTU and the DUCKDNS-addon (incl let’s encrypt), it requires me to open a port and enable port-forwarding on my router. This works fine.

I’d like to use the NABUCASA option and close my open port/forwarding on my router.

Do I assume it correctly that when I want to do this, I have to stop the DUCKDNS-addon and go back to a local http IP-address for HA ? (and change the Base-url etc … in my config & addons …)

I cannot find any info on that - I scanned the forum for this ?

Chris

I don’t use Nabu casa, but I think you are correct in your assumptions

If you’re using Nabu Casa (Home Assistant Cloud) there’s no reason to also use DuckDNS, you can shut it down.

The whole point of Nabu Casa is to prevent you having to open ports in your firewall, managing your SSL certificate, etc.
